We believe that in the Nursery here at Lima Community “as we are changing diapers…. God is changing lives”   We begin at the earliest age layering on God’s love for these precious little ones.  

Several ways we do this, we pray bible verses over them as we change diapers, as we rock & comfort little ones or are sitting on the floor playing we remind them that Jesus loves them & they are special to Him.

Baby Dedications
We believe that every child is a gift from God, and there is no greater treasure on this side of heaven than the little ones God has given us. Child dedication gives parents, as well as extended family, friends and the church an opportunity to thank God for our children. It is also a way of setting them apart for God and asking for his blessing on their lives.

We dedicate children here at Lima Community because that’s what has been modeled for us in the Bible. In Luke 2:22-25, Jesus’ parents dedicated him as an infant. Then in Mark 10:16, Jesus spoke blessings over the children that surrounded him.

We understand that dedication is not a baptism, nor does it impart salvation on the child. Faith is passed on to our children by helping them develop their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Dedication is simply the parent’s commitment to God to raise the child in ways that honor him. With this commitment brings the responsibility to teach our children what it looks like to walk with God.
  • Parents promise to teach their child about the love of God, the salvation gift through Jesus Christ, and the working of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers. 
  • Parents, family, and friends promise to nurture and love the child unconditionally.
  • The church promises to support the parents in the task of raising child in the faith.
As a congregation we pledge to come along side these parents to be involved in helping them fulfill their promise to God. We do this by praying for them, encouraging them, and volunteering in the many areas of Family Ministry so that these children have additional Godly role models in their lives.

There is a dedication orientation that is required before a child can be dedicated. We want to help you every step of the way in raising your child in a godly home

Child dedications are open to both regular attendees and members. Information about Child Dedication is available in the main foyer, any of the Family Ministry areas, or by calling the church at 419-223-9646.

Current Baby Dedication Orientations
September 11, October 2, October 30 and December 4. Theses classes will inform you what baby dedication is and why we perform it at Lima Community. The classes are all at 10:00 - 10:30 am on Sunday mornings in the choir room.
